Sadly there are very few overland ways open into N.Africa at the moment, the only other main one being going in to the west via Morrocco and down. Intially this was a route we wanted to do but time constraints and rising tensions in west africa mean we will have to take the boat from Turkey to Egypt.
Going back a few years I really wanted to go down through Syria, I think I can safely say this is definately off limits for now. Although maybe a little detour into Iraq could be intresting, the weather shouldn't be to hot in Mosul this time of year.
Anyhow back to all the other preparations that we are mainly trying to achive from the otherside of the world at the moment.
Should be back in the UK on the 18th for a final week of prep and then off!
